This two day tour will let you discover the scenic beauty of Scotland’s West Coast and the attractive fishing port of Oban. A comfortable stay in Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands makes this a great way to discover Scotland.
Day One
Our journey takes us northwards through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park with it’s lochs and mountains and into the Highlands. After a short break in the little village of Luss our scenic drive continues through Glen Lochy to romantic Kilchurn Castle, which stands guard at the head of Loch Awe. For years Loch Awe was a natural protection for the Campbells of Inveraray against their enemies from the North.
Oban is a picturesque fishing port set on the Firth of Lorn. We have plenty of time to discover this bustling town and enjoy the views towards the Island of Kerrera and the Inner Hebrides beyond.
From Oban we make our way northwards through Appin and Benderloch to Fort William. From the little village of Spean Bridge we will strike out into "Monarch of the Glen" country. As we travel through Glen Spean there are wonderful views over Loch Laggan to Ardverikie House (Glenbogle House in the popular BBC TV Series). A drive through the gentle Spey Valley will bring to Inverness, our home for tonight.
The stay in Inverness is un-escorted.
Day Two
This morning we have an enjoyable excursion by open-top bus through the Black Isle to the picturesque village of Cromarty. Later we will spend some time dolphin spotting by the Moray Firth before crossing the Kessock Bridge and making our way back to Inverness.
Later there is free time in Inverness for shopping or sightseeing. As we depart Inverness we make our way through the gentle Spey Valley then on through stunning scenery as we drive over the Drumochter Pass. Keep a close watch for the deer that often come down to the roadside to graze. We will enjoy views of Blair Castle before making a stop for afternoon tea in the heart of the Perthshire countryside. From Perth make our way homewards to journey's end in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Admission to Urquhart Castle is not included - payable locally.
